Access – Basics

Delivery & Duration

  • Face-to-face: 1 day, OR
  • Live online: 3 x 1-hour sessions

General Outline

This course is for those starting ‘from scratch’ with Access and so concentrates on the basics in creating, editing and formatting a database. You will learn database terms such as ‘field’, ‘record’ and ‘query’. You will learn about the planning process for setting up a database, and then how to set it up in Access.
Exercises are then carried out on how to create and format the database fields, how to enter data and create records, as well as importing data. You will create and format simple forms and reports, and understand how Access works ‘behind the scenes’. A number of exercises cover Queries, what they are, and how they work, including creating basic and more advanced examples.
Finally, how to link tables together and why is an important aspect of the basics course.
