Manage Your Documents Better

Many people use Microsoft Word just as a fancy typewriter; in fact, it’s a powerful word- and document-processor. When used correctly, you can manage your reports, procedures, meeting minutes and more, easily and without fuss!


Key things to keep in mind before you ‘barge’ in and try out lots of Googled tips and shortcuts are as follows:

  1. What features do you want in your documents – table of contents, different page number formats in different sections, etc?
  2. What user-friendly features do you want – pop-up prompts, auto-buttons for common operations, shortcuts for common ‘snippets’ of text?
  3. Have you or would you like to use styles to quickly format documents, make them more consistent, fix problems, etc?
  4. Do you want to create templates? And then, did you want to automate the use of those templates?
  5. Do you want your colleagues to use the same ‘centralised’ templates to make it all easier?
  6. Would you like to automate your workflow to save time with all this?

Answers to these questions will help you devise a better, big-picture approach to managing your documents. Then, you can ‘barge’ in and start using Word better – hopefully with our help!!
