General Outline

This course covers the ‘full range’ of the basics in using the Apple iPad for your business or workplace. Participants are expected to bring along their own iPads for use during the course.

The course focuses on using the iPad as a business tool whilst ‘on the go’. The course also covers how to use iPad’s built-in applications and how they might integrate or work with applications in your business or workplace.

You’ll also receive some great suggestions on how to find, install and use third-party apps that can help to manage business activities more effectively while away from the office. Hands-on exercises are carried out during the 1-day course, and you can bring along your specific queries.

Detailed Content

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Access, view and change iPad settings to make it work better.
  • Use extensive hand/finger gestures to navigate the interface.
  • Work with and customise app icons and the Home screens.
  • Use data-entry shortcuts with onscreen keyboard and dictation.
  • Set up and join a Wi-fi / Mobile network.
  • Send, receive and manage e-mail.
  • Use calendar and reminders (to-do) list, and implement some time management features.
  • Work with and share photos and images.
  • Create, edit and share documents / files / information.
  • Use a free, online storage app (Dropbox) for managing documents / files.
  • Search for apps and install them.

Participants are expected to bring along their own iPads for use during the course. Hands-on exercises are carried out during the session, and you can bring along your specific queries.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Revise important iPad shortcuts (hand gestures, settings, customising screens, data-entry shortcuts, etc).
  • Manage documents with online storage services (Dropbox, etc).
  • Use document management apps such as Adobe Reader, GoodReader, PDF Expert and others.
  • View and navigate documents, reports, etc.
  • Highlight and add comments to documents, reports, etc.
  • Quickly navigate to comments and sections in documents, reports, etc.
  • Send, share and collaborate with others on online documents.
  • Download online documents as Microsoft Office files, PDFs, and others, for offline access.
