Xero is designed to help you manage your business accounts and ‘paperwork’ with very little fuss. In our course you’ll learn how easy it is to reconcile your bank account with live feeds from your bank. Xero will even recognise those transactions on your bank feed and enter the payment or deposit, and reconcile it at the same time.

You’ll go away with lots of shortcuts for creating sales invoices and bills, entering payments automatically, and more.

Also, bring along your specific questions/queries about how Xero will work for your business or workplace.

We’ll provide a computer for the day and training workbook to keep.

Detailed Content

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Navigate Xero’s screen (Dashboard, Accounts, Contacts, etc).
  • Set up and check basic settings:
    • Bank and credit card accounts
    • Chart of accounts
    • Watch-list accounts
    • Bank feeds
  • Create sales invoices and enter sales payments.
  • Enter supplier bills and payments.
  • Save time by creating batch payments to suppliers automatically.
  • Manage and track GST.
  • Use shortcuts and repeating transaction features.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and enter transactions automatically with live feeds and auto-transactions.
  • Create bank rules to save time.
  • Print/download reports (P/L, Balance Sheet, etc).
  • State mobile apps and other ‘add-ons’ for using and extending Xero for your business.

The payroll module in Xero is a powerful yet easy-to-learn part of this popular accounting application. A business with anywhere from one to about fifty employees will benefit from the ease with which payroll can be set up and managed.

In our comprehensive course, you‟ll learn how to set up wages categories, how to ensure that superannuation is calculated correctly, and how to set up entitlements such as holiday leave correctly for your employees.

You’ll learn how to apply tricky entitlements and employer expenses, such as wage and salary advancements, bonuses and many others.

The relatively small class sizes allow you to ask your trainer questions that are specific to the setting up of your business and its day-to-day management of payroll.

Xero is a powerful accounting tool for managing the finances of your business. In the Advanced course, you will revise the shortcuts in using Xero, such as entering transactions, checking set up, and so on, and then move onto some of the more advanced features.

Bring along any specific problem areas relevant to your situation to this course. The relatively small class sizes allow you to ask your trainer questions that are specific to the setting up of your business and its day-to-day management.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Check your Xero setup, accounts, GST, etc.
  • Revise / revisit bank rules and automatic bank reconciliation.
  • Enter tricky transactions; For example:
    • Customer prepayments and pre-sale deposits.
    • Combined business and private transaction.
    • Set up simple job tracking, departmental accounting.
    • Set up work-arounds for undeposited payments (cheques, EFTPOS, clearing, etc).
  • Reconcile overpayments, double payments, underpayments, etc.
  • Find and fix errors in reconciled transactions; For example:
    • unreconcile transactions.
    • recode to correct accounts quickly.
    • manually reconcile transactions.
  • Work with documents, files and electronic record-keeping.
  • Complete a check-list for end of financial year or end of BAS period.
  • Set up and complete the BAS correctly, code in correctly BAS payment or refund.
  • Manage security; For example:
    • Set up users and restrict access to functions.
    • Lock periods to prevent changes / new transactions.
  • Customise design templates for emails and forms.
  • Customise and publish financial reports.
  • Other Xero functions:
    • Cleaning up old accounts and contacts.
    • Manage fixed assets & depreciation.
